CLOCK GAINS OR LOSES TIME OR RESETS DATE AND TIME INTERMITTENTLY
MODELS AFFECTED: 1989 RIVIERAS AND REATTAS
This bulletin has been revised to add additional symptom description to the title and first paragraph. Please discard bulletin 89-8-12, dated 5/89 and
replace with bulletin 89-8-12A.
Clocks on some 1989 Rivieras and Reattas may gain or lose time or experience reset of date and time intermittently. The amount of time may vary from a
few minutes to several hours.
A normally operating clock may lose or gain up to two minutes per month.
To repair this condition check the PROM I.D. and install the appropriate new PROM using the following procedure:
1989 Rivieras and Reattas
Determine the amount of time gained or lost. If it is less than two minutes over a one month period, the clock is operating properly.
Determine whether the trip odometer or climate control setting is affected, or if a BCM code B552 is set. If so, refer to the Service Information
Manual for BCM power and ground diagnosis.
Check PROM I.D. (BD99). Refer to Section 8D of the Service Information Manual.
If the PROM I.D. is: 3424, 3764, or 0574, replace the EPROM with: Part Number 16138872.
If the PROM I.D. is not: 3424, 3764, or 0574, refer to the Service Information Manual for BCM power and ground diagnosis.
