Water Leak Causing Floor Carpet to Become Saturated (Apply Duct Tape Below Speaker Pocket)
MODEL:
1995 Buick Riviera - Built Between VIN Breakpoints S4720000 and S4725000
CONDITION
Some customers may comment on water entering the vehicle and saturating the floor carpet.
CAUSE
The water leak may be due to a co-adhesive failure on the butyl bead of adhesive. just below the speaker pocket formation on the water deflector. See
Figure 1, Item 1.
CORRECTION
Important:
Before proceeding with the repair procedure, please refer to the Buick "Know-How, Riviera Window Sealing" Technician Manual, page 8,
Diagnostic Chart, to verify that the water is not being caused by a door glass misadjustment or faulty weather seal.
Remove the trim panel and apply an 8-1/2" x 1-1/2" strip of duct tape below the speaker pocket. See Figure 1, Item 2.
Important:
Upon reinstallation of the door trim panel, verify that the duct tape does not show below the trim panel.
