Wheel Fastener: Service and Repair
It is not necessary to remove the hub and bearing assembly from the vehicle to replace wheel studs.
Removal
1. Raise and support vehicle, then remove wheel and disc brake caliper. It is not necessary to disconnect hydraulic line from caliper; support
caliper assembly from frame to prevent hydraulic line damage.
2. Remove brake rotor; then, using wheel stud remover tool No. J-6627-A, or equivalent, press wheel stud out rear of hub.
Installation
1. Position new wheel stud in hole from rear side of hub, then place 4 flat washers on outer portion of stud.
2. Place wheel lug nut on new stud with flat side toward washers, then tighten nut until stud is seated fully in hub flange.
3. Remove wheel lug nut and 4 washers, then install brake rotor and caliper.
4. Install wheel and tighten wheel lug nuts to specifications, then lower vehicle.
