Throttle Body: Service and Repair
Throttle Body Assembly
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Drain radiator coolant.
2. Air intake tube.
3. Accelerator control cable bracket.
4. Remove throttle and cruise cables.
5. Disconnect Idle Air Control (IAC), Throttle Position (TP) sensor, and Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor electrical connectors.
6. Remove nuts or bolts holding throttle body to the intake manifold.
7. Remove throttle assembly.
Clean
Gasket surface on intake manifold and throttle body.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. New gasket, if necessary.
2. Throttle body assembly.
3. Throttle body retaining nuts or bolts (3).
Tighten
Nuts or bolts to 10 Nm (7 lb. ft.).
4. IAC, TP sensor and MAF sensor electrical connectors.
5. Throttle and cruise control cables.
6. Accelerator control cable bracket.
7. Air intake tube.
8. Refill radiator to replace lost coolant.
INSPECT
Make sure throttle and cruise control linkage does not hold the throttle open upon completion.
