Ignition Coil: Electrical Specifications

With Distributor

IGNITION COIL RESISTANCE

(Vehicles with a distributor only.)

Primary Resistance ......................................................................................................................................................................................  0.3 - 0.5 ohms
Secondary Resistance ..........................................................................................................................................................................  7,000 - 9,000 ohms

NOTE:  Primary resistance measured between the two coil primary power wires on each coil.

NOTE:  Secondary resistance measured across each coil's two towers with coil removed from vehicle.

Without Distributor

IGNITION COIL RESISTANCE

Primary Resistance ........................................................................................................................................................................................0.5 - 0.9 ohms
Secondary Resistance ...........................................................................................................................................................................5,000 - 8,000 ohms 

NOTE:  Primary resistance measured between the two coil primary power wires on each coil.

NOTE:  Secondary resistance measured across each coil's two towers with coil removed from vehicle.
