Brake Master Cylinder: Service and Repair
Master Cylinder Removal and Installation
Master Cylinder Assembly
1. Perform gear tension release procedure.
Gear Tension Release can be performed with the TECH 1 Scan tool.

Connect TECH 1 to data link Connector under instrument panel, turn ignition "ON" and select Miscellaneous Test (F4) from the "Select
Mode" menu, then select Gear Tension Relief (F5)
Remove or Disconnect
2. Electrical connector from fluid level switch.
3. Electrical connectors from both ABS solenoids.
4. 3-pin and 6-pin motor pack electrical connectors.
5. Brake pipe tube nuts from master cylinder and modulator assembly.
^ Plug open brake pipes to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
6. Master cylinder mounting nuts.
7. Master cylinder and modulator assembly from booster.
Install or Connect
1. Master cylinder and modulator assembly to power booster assembly. Tighten Master cylinder and modulator assembly mounting nuts to 27 Nm
(20 ft. lbs.).
2. Brake pipes tube nuts to master cylinder and modulator assembly. Tighten Brake pipe tube nuts to 23 Nm (17 ft lbs.).
3. Electrical connector to fluid level switch.
4. Electrical connectors to both solenoids.
5. 3-pin and 6-pin motor pack electrical connectors.
6. Fill master cylinder to proper level with clean brake fluid.
