A/T Shift Indicator Module: Description and Operation
The electronic PRNDL display feature indicates the Trans axle gear position to the driver. The PRNDL Control Module receives gear position data via
the UART Serial Data Line (For more information on UART, see Computers and Control Systems) from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). The
PCM reads the Transaxle position from the Park/Neutral Position Switch. See: Powertrain Management/Computers and Control Systems
The PRNDL Control Module also receives light dimming information over the UART Serial Data Line. This causes the PRNDL display to dim to the
present dimmer control level with the Park Lights or Headlights in the "ON" position.
