Crankshaft Position Sensor: Service and Repair
Crankshaft Position Sensor Replacement (24X)
24X Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor
SPECIAL TOOLS REQUIRED (or equivalents)

J-24420-B, Harmonic balancer remover.
^
J-29113, Harmonic balancer installer.
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Negative battery cable.
2. Serpentine drive belt from crankshaft pulley.
3. Raise the vehicle on hoist.
4. Crankshaft harmonic balancer retaining bolt.
5. Balancer using J-24420-B.
6. Remove the harness retaining clip with bolt. Note the routing of sensor harness before removal.
7. Sensor electrical connector.
8. Sensor bolts and the sensor.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Crankshaft position sensor with bolts and harness retaining clip bolt. Route harness as noted during removal and tighten bolts to 10 Nm (88 lb in).
2. Sensor electrical connector.
3. Balancer on the crankshaft using J-29113.
4. Apply thread sealer GM P/N 1052080 or equivalent to the threads of the balancer bolt, install and tighten to 150 Nm (110 lb ft).
5. Lower the vehicle.
6. Serpentine drive belt.
7. Negative battery cable.
