SIR/SRS Wiring Repairs
Connector Repair
Caution: This vehicle is equipped with a Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) System. Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause the
following conditions:

Air bag deployment
*
Personal injury
*
Unnecessary SIR system repairs
In order to avoid the above conditions, observe the following guidelines:

Refer to SIR Component Views in order to determine if you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring.
*
If you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System.
The terminals in the SIR are made of special metal to provide necessary contact integrity for the sensitive, low energy circuits. These terminals are
available only in connector repair assembly packs. Do not substitute any other terminals for those in the assembly packs.
Wire Repair
Do not repair any wires of the supplemental inflatable restraints (SIR). Replace any damaged wires with new ones.

Important: When making a splice in an area that may be exposed to moisture use a crimp and seal splice sleeve instead of a Splice Clip. Refer

Tools Required
J-38125 Terminal Repair Kit
1. Open the harness.
*
If the harness is taped, remove the tape.
*
To avoid wiring insulation damage, use a sewing ripper in order to cut open the harness.
*
If the harness has a black plastic conduit, pull out the desired wire.
2. Cut the wire.
*
Cut as little wire off the harness as possible.
