Air Door Cable: Adjustments
LESS A/C
Control cables have a slider-type self adjusting feature. As the control head lever is moved through its full operating range, the cable clip assumes a
position which assures that the air door will seat in both extreme positions. After cable installation, the control head lever should be moved briskly from
the full "ON" to the full "OFF" position. Approximately 2/3 of the way through the lever travel, additional resistance will be felt as the clip position is
adjusted. After the cable clip is set, uniform resistance should be felt as the lever is moved from stop to stop, and the air doors should be heard to contact
their stops at both extreme positions.
WITH A/C (EXC. 1984-85 CAVALIER, CIMARRON, 2000)
Models with cable operated doors use the self adjusting type cable described for models less A/C with a slotted end clip. Use the following
procedure to adjust temperature cables on these models.
1.
Connect cable to control head as assembly.
2.
Place temperature lever in extreme ``Cold'' or "OFF" position.
3.
Connect cable end to heater case temperature door post.
4.
Push cable casing toward temperature lever until temperature door seats and all lash is removed from cable and control.
5.
Secure position by tightening cable casing retaining screw, then cycle control lever from stop to stop to allow cable to ``self adjust.''
