Ground Strap: Service and Repair
GROUND STRAP REPLACEMENT
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
Additional ground straps are used to connect the body and the frame to the engine and the transmission. Always connect all ground straps in order to
ensure a good ground path to the battery for all electrical components.
1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Remove the ground strap bolt from the engine.
3. Lower the vehicle.
4. Remove the ground strap bolt from the cowl.
5. Remove the ground strap.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the ground strap.
2. Install the ground strap bolt to the cowl.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
Tighten the ground strap to cowl bolt to 17 N.m (12 lb ft).
3. Raise the vehicle.
