INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE RATTLE
Model and Year:
1988-91 C/K TRUCKS
Some 1988-1991 C/K trucks may experience an interior door handle rattle due to an over travel condition when the door handle is released or when the
door is slammed. The over travel causes the lower flange of the door handle to strike the bezel.
To correct this condition, it will be necessary to replace the inner door handle housing for the interior door handle. The revised inner door handle
housing reduces the size of the lower flange on the handle. This reduction in the size of the flange provides the necessary clearance to the bezel, thereby
eliminating the door rattle.
Before performing the following service procedure, it is necessary to make sure that the actual cause of the rattle is the inner door handle. To do this,
wrap a piece of cloth around the door handle and release the door handle. If the rattle stops, it is likely that the rattle can be eliminated by installing the
revised inner door handle housing.
