7. Clean and prepare all of the bare metal surfaces.
8. Apply approved anti-corrosion primer.
9. Apply full-bodied caulk to the entire hinge mounting surface in order to ensure a proper seal.

10. Align the hinge and the backing plate with the holes in the door (Fig. 4-34).
11. Install the bolts. Tighten the bolts to 25 N.m (20 ft lb).
12. Apply the sealers.
13. Refinish the metal surfaces as necessary.
14. Install and align all of the related panels and the components.

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the hinge pin retainers (1) from the hinge pins (2).
2. Grasp the lower hinge pin with a pair of locking pliers.
3. Use a soft-faced hammer in order to drive out the lower hinge pin.
4. Install a bolt through the lower hinges in order to temporarily hold the door in place. 
5. Grasp the upper hinge pin (2) with a pair of locking pliers in order to remove the upper hinge pin. 
6. Use a soft-faced hammer in order to drive out the upper hinge pin (2).
7. Remove the bolt from the lower hinge pin hole.
8. Remove the door from the vehicle.
