Owner Letter
Dear Chevrolet Owner:
February 9, 1990
This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
REASON FOR THIS RECALL
General Motors has determined that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 1990 Chevrolet C/K 15-35 series Trucks with 6.2L
diesel engines. The fuel feed and/or return lines of these vehicles can contact the automatic transmission shift linkage cordon shaft and/or, on K models,
the front propshaft. If this contact occurs, a hole could be rubbed through the fuel line and a diesel fuel leak may occur near the exhaust crossover pipe.
A fuel leak of this type may result in an engine compartment fire.
WHAT WE WILL DO
To prevent this condition from occurring, your Chevrolet dealer will install a new design fuel line routing bracket. Additionally, fuel lines will be
inspected for chaffing and, if necessary, replaced. This service will be performed for you at no charge.
WHAT YOU SHOULD DO
Please contact your Chevrolet dealer as soon as possible to arrange a service date. Instructions for making this correction have been sent to your dealer.
Parts are available. The labor time necessary to perform this service inspection/correction is approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour. Please ask your dealer
if you wish to know how much additional time will be needed to schedule and process your vehicle.
Your Chevrolet dealer is best equipped to obtain parts and provide service to insure that your vehicle is corrected as promptly as possible. If, however,
you take your vehicle to your dealer on the agreed service date, and they do not remedy this condition on that date or within five (5) days, we recommend
you contact the Chevrolet Customer Assistance Center by calling 1-800-222-1020.
