Oil Filter: Service and Repair
Oil Filter Bypass Valve
Removal
1. Remove the oil filter.
2. Remove the bolts.
3. Remove the oil filter bypass valve.
4. Inspect the bypass valve spring and valve disc for proper operation, cracks, and damage. If replacement is needed, the oil filter bypass valve must
be replaced.
5. Clean the valve chamber in the block.
INSTALLATION
1. Install the oil filter bypass valve.
2. Install the bolts.

Tighten the bolts to 26 Nm (20 ft. lbs.).
3. Install the oil filter.
4. Install the engine oil, as needed.
