Alignment: Service and Repair
Preliminary Inspection
Before making any adjustments affecting caster, camber, or toe-in, inspect front end as follows:

Tires for proper inflation pressure.

Front wheel bearing for proper adjustment.

Ball Joints, tie rod ends, and relay rods. If excessive looseness is noted, correct before adjusting.

Wheels and tires for runout.

Measure vehicle ride height. If not within specifications, the correction must be made before adjusting caster.

Steering gear for looseness at the frame.
-
Shock absorbers for leaks or any noticeable noise.

Control arms or stabilizer shaft attachments for looseness.

Alignment equipment. Follow the manufacturer's instructions.

Level of the vehicle. The vehicle must be on a level surface fore and aft and side to side.

Excess drag or poor return of steering wheel due to stiff or rusty suspension or linkage components.
