Shackle: Service and Repair
Front Suspension
Removal Procedure
1. Raise the vehicle on a hoist.
2. Support the rear axle in order to relieve the tension from the rear springs using a suitable jack stand.
3. Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
4. Remove the upper retaining bolt (6) from the shackle (4).
5. Remove the lower retaining bolt (5) from the shackle.
6. Remove the shackle from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the shackle (4) to the vehicle.
2. Install the lower retaining bolt (5) to the shackle.
Use a new bolt and new nut each time the service is performed.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
3. Install the upper retaining bolt (6) to the shackle.
Use a new bolt and new nut each time the service is performed.

Tighten the upper shackle retaining bolt and the lower shackle retaining bolt to 90 Nm (67 ft. lbs.).
4. Install the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
5. Remove the jack stands.
6. Lower the vehicle.
