C 3500 HD Truck 2WD V8-8.1L VIN G (2002)
Installation Procedure
1. Install the brake caliper mounting plate (1) to the rear axle.
2. Install the splash shield.
Important: Ensure that the threads are clean and greaseless before applying thread locker.
3. Apply thread locker GM P/N 12345493 (Canadian P/N 10953488), or the equivalent, to the threads of each brake caliper mounting plate bolt.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
4. Install the brake caliper mounting plate bolts.
Tighten the brake caliper mounting plate bolts to 220 Nm (162 ft. lbs.).
5. Install the brake rotor.
6. Install the brake caliper (5).
7. Install the tire and the wheel assembly.
8. Lower the vehicle.
9. With the engine OFF, gradually apply the brake pedal approximately 2/3 of its travel distance.
10. Slowly release the brake pedal.
11. Wait 15 seconds, then repeat steps 9-10 until a firm brake pedal is obtained. This will properly seat the brake caliper pistons and brake pads.
