Parking Brake Drum: Service and Repair
Park Brake Drum Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Release the park brake.
2. Raise the vehicle and support the vehicle with safety stands. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
3. Reference mark the center bearing (5) to the crossmember (2).
4. Remove the nuts (1), washers, and bolts (3) from the center bearing.
5. Remove the bolts and the universal joint retainers from the transmission yoke.
6. Reference mark the front propeller shaft to the transmission yoke.
7. Remove the front propeller shaft from the transmission yoke.
8. Tape the bearing cups to the universal joint to prevent the loss of the needle bearings.
9. Position the front propeller shaft to provide access to the park brake drum.
10. Remove the park brake drum to transmission yoke bolts.
11. Remove the park brake drum.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the park brake drum.
