Parking Brake Lever: Service and Repair
Removal and Installation
Parking Brake Lever
Remove or Disconnect
1. Remove lower instrument panel section.
2. Disconnect connector from parking brake switch.
3. Remove release cable (2).
4. Remove handle (3).
5. Remove bolts (4).
6. Remove lever assembly (1).
CAUTION: Always use the correct fastener in the proper location. When you replace a fastener, use ONLY the exact part number for that
application. General Motors will call out those fasteners that require a replacement after removal. General Motors will also call out the fasteners
that require thread lockers or thread sealant. Unless otherwise specified, do not use supplemental coatings (paints, greases, or other corrosion
inhibitors) on threaded fasteners or fastener joint interfaces. Generally, such coatings adversely affect the fastener torque and joint clamping force,
and may damage the fastener. When you install fasteners, use the correct tightening sequence and specifications. Following these instructions can
help you avoid damage to parts and systems.
Install or Connect
1. Install lever assembly (1).
2. Install bolts (4).

Tighten bolts (4) to 24 Nm (18 lb. ft.).
3. Attach handle (3).
4. Attach release cable (2).
5. Reconnect connector to parking brake switch.
6. Reattach dash assembly.
7. Adjust. Refer to Parking Brake System Adjustments.
