Push seal and tool assembly onto crankshaft as far as it will go, positioning tool so that arrow points toward cylinder case as shown in Fig. 25.

Ensure that main bearings in block are properly positioned and lubricated, then set crankshaft into engine, aligning oil seal with case groove.

Lightly lubricate crankshaft journals, and ensure that bearing shells are properly installed in main caps and that rear main cap sealing surfaces are
clean and free from oil.
10.
Apply a 1-2 mm bead of anaerobic sealer (Loctite 515 or equivalent) to rear main cap as shown in Fig. 24, install cap and torque retaining bolts to
specifications. It is important that cap joint be properly sealed to prevent oil leakage. Do not substitute RTV sealer for the specified
anaerobic sealer, and do not apply an excessive amount of sealer to the cap, as this will cause oil leaks.

Install remaining main bearing caps and torque to specifications.
12.
Ensure that connecting rod bearings are properly seated in rods and caps, lightly lubricate bearings and crankpin journals, then reconnect rods to
crankpins, install caps and torque cap nuts to specifications.
13.
Complete engine reassembly and installation as outlined in appropriate service procedures.
