Fig. 15 Coil Assembly Centered Position
1. Remove steering wheel as described under "Steering and Suspension/Steering/Steering Wheel.
2. Place ignition switch in Lock position to retain coil assembly in the centered position.
3. Disconnect battery ground cable.
4. Remove coil assembly retaining ring, Fig. 12.
5. Lift coil assembly from steering shaft and allow to hang from wire, then remove wave washer.
6. Using a suitable tool, compress lock plate and remove snap ring (C-ring on tilt models), Fig. 13.
7. Remove lock plate, turn signal canceling cam and upper bearing spring, inner race seat and inner race.
8. Place turn signal lever in right hand turn position, then remove multi-function lever and hazard warning flasher knob.
9. Remove turn signal switch lever attaching screw, then remove lever.
10. Remove turn signal switch attaching screws.
11. Disconnect turn signal switch electrical connector at lower portion of steering column.
12. Remove turn signal switch wiring protector cover from steering column, Fig. 14
13. Carefully pull turn signal switch wiring up and out of steering column.
