Transmission Position Switch/Sensor: Description and Operation
Park/Neutral Switch, Automatic Trans.
This switch, connected to the transmission gear selector, is closed when the gear selector is in Park or Neutral.
When the switch is closed ignition timing is retarded.
It also is involved in the operation of the torque converter clutch and the idle speed control.
