Fuel Rail: Service and Repair

Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Assembly Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement   (See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Engine/Service and Repair/Removal and

Replacement/Engine Cover Replacement).

2. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to the Fuel Pressure Relief   (See: Fuel Filter/Fuel Pressure Release/Service and Repair).
3. Clean the fuel rail assembly before disconnection the fuel connections.

Caution:  
*

Remove the fuel rail assembly carefully in order to prevent damage to the injector electrical connector terminals and the injector spray tips.
Support the fuel rail after the fuel rail is removed in order to avoid damaging the fuel rail components.

Cap the fittings and plug the holes when servicing the fuel system in order to prevent dirt and other contaminants from entering open pipes and
passages.

4. Disconnect the fuel feed pipe from the fuel rail. Refer to Fuel Line Replacement - Engine   (See: Fuel Supply Line/Service and Repair/Fuel Line

Replacement - Engine).

Note:  Observe the order sequence of the fuel injector electrical connectors (1).

5. Disconnect the fuel injector electrical connectors (1) from the fuel injectors.
