Wheel Bearing: Service and Repair
FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS AND/OR HUB
EXC. 1984---88 CORVETTE
1.
Raise car and remove front wheels.
2.
Remove bolts holding brake caliper to its mounting and insert a fabricated block (1 1/16 x 11/16 x 2 inches in length) between the brake pads as
the caliper is being removed. Once removed, the caliper can be wired or secured in some manner away from the disc.
3.
Remove spindle nut and hub and disc assembly. Grease retainer and inner wheel bearing can now be removed.
4.
Reverse procedure to install.
