Water Pump: Service and Repair
Remove or Disconnect
1. Negative battery cable.
2. Cooling fan.
3. Serpentine belt from the coolant pump pulley.
4. Coolant pump pulley. Drain the radiator.
5. Radiator outlet hose from the coolant pump.
6. Coolant pump mounting bolts.
7. Coolant pump.
8. Gaskets.
Clean
^
Cylinder block and coolant pump gasket surfaces.
Install or Connect
1. New gaskets.
2. Coolant pump.
3. Coolant pump mounting bolts.
Tighten
^
Bolts to 41 N.m (30 lb. ft.).
4. Radiator outlet hose to the coolant pump.
5. Coolant pump pulley.
6. Serpentine belt over the coolant pump pulley.
7. Cooling fan.
8. Negative battery cable.
^
Add coolant.
Inspect
^
For leaks, after running the engine to normal operating temperature.
