Subject:

INACCURATE FUEL GAUGE READING

Model and Year:

1991 B CAR

CONDITION:

Some 1991 B-cars assembled prior to VIN breakpoint MW130163, may exhibit a condition where there is very little relative fuel gauge needle
movement regardless of the amount of fuel in the fuel tank.

CAUSE:

Plastic fuel tank fill tube extension tab (internal to tank) not inserted into slot in fuel tank reservoir. Unsecured tab may restrict travel of fuel tank sender
float arm resulting in inaccurate fuel gauge readings.

CORRECTION:

Remove vehicle fuel tank and sender assembly following applicable shop manual procedure. Accessing thru fuel tank sender opening, insert fill tube
extension tab into reservoir retainer. Reinstall sender assembly and fuel tank.
