Throttle Valve Cable/Linkage: Adjustments
Throttle Valve Linkage
1.
With engine off, disconnect throttle valve linkage retaining lock.
2.
Rotate throttle lever to wide open position and hold in this position.
3.
Connect throttle valve linkage retaining lock.

Self Adjusting Linkage

With engine off, depress locking tab and move slider rearward through fitting until slider contacts fitting, Fig. 3.
2.
Release locking tab, then move carburetor throttle lever to wide open position and release.
3.
Check cable for sticking or binding, then test vehicle for proper operation.
4.
If transmission does not shift properly, raise and support vehicle and remove transmission oil pan. Inspect throttle lever and bracket assembly on
valve body for damage. Check to ensure throttle valve exhaust valve rod is not worn or damaged. Check to ensure lifter spring holds lifter rod
against bottom of valve body and that throttle valve plunger is not sticking.
