Rattle Noise Under Hood or Instrument Panel Area
(Install New Hood Hinge Bolt with Wave Washer Assembly)

1995-96 Chevrolet Cavalier
1995-96 Pontiac Sunfire
Condition
Some owners may comment on a raffle noise under the hood or instrument panel area.
Cause
Condition may be due to a loose hood hinge fit.
Correction
Install a new hood hinge bolt with the wave washer assembly per the following service procedure.
1.
Remove the bolt assembly from the hood hinge assembly.
2.
Insert the bolt from inside the hood hinge assembly.
3.
Insert the new bolt assembly and install the wave washer on the bolt outside of the hinge assembly.
4.
Install the bolt and tighten to specs - 21 N.m (15 lb ft).
5.
Hood hinges should be lubricated.
