Turbocharger: Vehicle Damage Warnings
DURING ENGINE START
^
After engine has started, allow engine to operate at idle speed for several minutes.
^
If engine has not been started for a long period of time (several days), operate engine at idle speed until engine oil has circulated throughout
engine assembly.
^
When the turbocharger has been replaced with a new module, remove oil feed hose, then pour clean engine oil directly into the turbocharger
oil port.
DURING ENGINE OPERATION
^
Check oil pressure gauge and confirm that normal oil pressure is available.
^
If a rapping or rumbling noise is emitted by rotating components of the turbocharger, stop engine and completely check turbocharger assembly.
DURING ENGINE SHUT DOWN
^
Allow engine to operate at idle speed for several minutes before stopping the engine. If the engine was operating under a heavy load,
stopping the engine abruptly could overheat and damage the turbocharger bearings.
