Vacuum Brake Booster: Service and Repair

Power Vacuum Brake Booster Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Apply and release the brake pedal several times until the pedal becomes firm to deplete the brake booster vacuum reserve.

2. Disconnect the power vacuum brake booster vacuum hose and check valve (1).
3. Remove the master cylinder assembly. Refer to Master Cylinder Replacement   (See: Hydraulic System/Brake Master Cylinder/Service and

Repair/Removal and Replacement/Master Cylinder Replacement).

4. Remove the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement   (See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Dashboard / Instrument

Panel/Service and Repair).

5. Remove the brake booster pushrod retainer (1).
