Vacuum Pump: Service and Repair
Piston Assembly, Replace

1.

Remove vacuum pump as described above.

2.

Remove upper and lower shields.

3.

Carefully release bonnet tabs then remove bonnet and spring, Fig. 9. Bonnet is spring loaded. Bonnet and pump housing must be held
together during disassembly.

4.

Remove piston from housing.

5.

Remove umbrella valve.

6.

Replace umbrella valve, piston assembly and spring.

7.

Place bonnet over spring and compress spring and bonnet onto pump housing. Bend bonnet tabs around pump housing checking to ensure bonnet
is secure.

8.

Reinstall shields and install pump.
