Inspecting Crankshaft Main Bearing Journals in Corvette V8-57L VIN G (1997)
7. Install the bearing, bearing cap, bolts and studs.
a. Tighten the inner bolts first pass in sequence to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).
b. Tighten the inner bolts final pass in sequence to 80 degrees using a torque angle meter.
c. Tighten the outer studs first pass in sequence to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).
d. Tighten the outer studs final pass in sequence to 53 degrees using a torque angle meter.
e. Tighten the side cap bolts to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.). Tighten the bolt on one side of the bearing cap and then tighten the bolt on the opposite side
of the same bearing cap.
NOTE: Remove the bearing cap side bolts prior to cap removal.
8. Remove the bearing cap M8 side bolts.
