Service Port HVAC: Service and Repair

Air Conditioning Refrigerant Service Valve Core Replacement

Tools Required

J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

*

J 46246 Valve Core Tool

Removal Procedure

1. Recover the refrigerant from the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging  (See: Service and Repair/Procedures/Refrigerant

Recovery and Recharging) .

2. Using the J 46246  , remove the valve core from the service port.

Installation Procedure

1. Install the valve core to the service port.

Notice:  Refer to Fastener Notice  .

2. Using the J 46246  , tighten the valve core.

Tighten the valve core to 11 N.m (97 lb in).

3. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging  (See: Service and Repair/Procedures/Refrigerant Recovery

and Recharging) .

4. Leak test the fittings of the component using J 39400-A  .
