Engine Oil Dip Stick - Dip Stick Tube: Service and Repair

Oil Level Indicator Tube Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the oil level indicator.

2. Remove the oil level indicator tube bolt.
3. Remove the oil level indicator tube.

Note:  Inspect the O-ring seal for cuts or damage. The O-ring seal may be reused if not cut or damaged.

4. Remove the O-ring from the oil level indicator tube, if required.

Installation Procedure

1. Lubricate the O-ring seal with clean engine oil.
2. Install the oil level indicator tube into position.
3. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle   (See: Maintenance/Vehicle Lifting/Service and Repair).
4. Insert the oil level indicator tube into the engine block until the collar is flush with the block.
5. Lower the vehicle.

Notice:  Refer to Fastener Caution   (See: Service Precautions/Vehicle Damage Warnings/Fastener Caution).

6. Install the oil level indicator tube bolt.

Tighten the oil level indicator tube bolt to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).
