Differential Axle Housing: Service and Repair
Chevrolet Salisbury Semi-Floating Axle

Caballero & El Camino

1.

Raise vehicle and support at frame rails, then raise and support rear axle with suitable jack.

2.

Disconnect shock absorbers from lower mountings.

3.

Remove propeller shaft.

4.

Disconnect upper control arms from axle housing attachments.

5.

Disconnect brake line from axle housing junction block.

6.

Disconnect parking brake cable, then the lower control arms from axle housing.

7.

Lower axle slowly until spring tension is relieved, then roll axle housing out from underneath vehicle.

8.

Reverse procedure to install.
