Timing Chain & Gears Replace

1.

Remove front cover as outlined previously.

2.

Remove oil slinger, cam gear, crank gear and timing chain.

3.

Remove fuel pump eccentric from crankshaft, if necessary.

4.

Install key in crankshaft, if removed.

5.

Install fuel pump eccentric, if removed.

6.

Install cam gear, crank gear and timing chain with timing marks aligned, Fig. 49. With the timing marks aligned as shown in Fig. 49. No. 6
cylinder is in the firing position. To place No. 1 cylinder in the firing position, rotate crankshaft one complete revolution. This will bring
the camshaft gear mark to top and No. 1 cylinder will be in the firing position.

7.

Install oil slinger.

8.

Install front cover. Whenever timing chain and gears are replaced, it will be necessary to re-time the engine. Refer to ``Injection Pump Timing''
procedure.
