    Main bearing inserts are available in standard sizes and undersizes of .0005, .0010 and .0015 inch. On 1983---84 models, a letter stamped on the
bearing tang identifies the size of the bearing, Fig. 53. The undersize is also stamped on the bearing insert on the other side of the insert tang, Fig. 53. On
1980---81 models, the amount of undersize and part number is stamped on the bearing shell, Fig. 54.

    Rod bearings are available in standard sizes and an undersize of .010 inch.
    Beginning in the 1981 model year, a 1/4 inch longer main bearing cap bolt entered production. The new part number is 22511818, replacing 392190.
All 1981 and newer diesel engine main bearing bolt holes have a 1/4 inch deeper tap and 1/4 inch longer counterbore.
