New Front Seat Belt Design

2003 Chevrolet Express 1500 Series Vans
2003 GMC Savana 1500 Series Vans
This bulletin is being issued to inform dealers that some of the above vehicles may have been manufactured with a new front seat belt design.
Important:
Due to this new design change, it is important to note that the two seat belt designs currently installed on the vehicle are NOT interchangeable in
regard to the belt latch and buckle. If a mismatch occurs, the Safety Belt Reminder Light will come on and stay on.
Please use the following illustrations to identify what design is installed on the vehicle.
On vehicles built before January 9, 2003. These have a longer latch plate, approximately 40 mm (1.57 in).
On vehicles built on/after January 9, 2003. These have a shorter latch plate, approximately 30 mm (1.18 in).
