Cargo Door Seal Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Open the cargo door.
2. Pull the cargo door seal from the cargo door opening pinch-weld flange.
3. Clean all the adhesive from the cargo door opening pinch-weld flange using GM P/N 8984 adhesive remover or equivalent.
Installation Procedure
Important: A mastic sealer glue is inside of new cargo door seal. If a new seal is being installed, weatherstrip adhesive should not be used.
If the cargo door seal is reused, weatherstrip adhesive should be used.
1. Guide the seal through the opening between the body and the hinges.
2. Install the cargo door seal starting at the top center of the liftgate opening. Position the liftgate seal to the pinch-weld flange and working down the
right and left sides towards the bottom center.
3. Install the butt joint seam at the center of the bottom pinch-weld flange.
4. Use a rubber mallet to ensure full engagement of the cargo door seal to the pinch-weld flange.
Important: Be sure that the seal is not kinked at the corners of the door openings.
5. Cut slots as necessary to provide clearance for body structure reinforcements.
6. Close the cargo door.
