Express 3/4 Ton Van V8-5.7L VIN R (1998)
9. Hold the pinion flange with the J8614-01.
10. Remove the pinion flange nut and washer.
11. Use a container to catch any lubricant.
12. Remove the pinion flange using the J8614-01 with the remover attachment.
13. Pry the oil seal from the bore.
IMPORTANT: Avoid damaging the machined surfaces.
14. Thoroughly clean any foreign material from the contact area.
15. Replace any parts as necessary.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the oil seal into the bore using the J22804-1 and either the J22388 (9 1/2 in ring gear axles) or the J22836 (8 1/2 and 8 5/8 in ring gear
axles).
2. Turn the J22804-1 from the installed position 180 degrees to ensure proper installation against the pinion flange.
3. Lubricate the cavity between the new seal lips with a high melting point lubricant for bearings.
4. Install the pinion flange using the J8614-01.
