Power Steering Line/Hose: Service and Repair

Power Steering Gear Outlet Pipe/Hose Replacement
Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer to Power Steering Hose Disconnected Caution (See: Service Precautions).
1. Install a drain pan under the vehicle.
2. Siphon the power steering fluid from the reservoir to prevent excessive spillage.
3. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (See: Vehicle Lifting/Service and Repair).
4. Remove the power steering outlet hose from the power steering pump.
5. Remove the power steering gear outlet hose from the power steering gear.
6. Remove the power steering gear outlet hose from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
Caution: Refer to Installing Hoses without Twists or Bends Caution (See: Service Precautions/Vehicle Damage Warnings/Installing Hoses
without Twists or Bends Caution).
1. Route the hose in the same position the hose occupied prior to removal.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (See: Service Precautions/Vehicle Damage Warnings/Fastener Caution).
2. Install the steering gear outlet hose to the power steering gear and tighten to 33 Nm (24 lb ft).
3. Install the power steering outlet hose to the power steering pump.
4. Lower the vehicle.
5. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding (See: Steering and Suspension/Steering/Power Steering/Power
Steering Bleeding/Service and Repair).
6. Remove the drain pan from under the vehicle.
