5. Position the ignition switch to "LOCK."
6. Ensure that the key can only be removed in the "P" position.

If either Step 2 or 3 can not be performed, repeat the shift cable adjustment procedure.

If both Steps 2 and 3 can be performed, start the engine and check the vehicle transmission shifting. If the steering column shift light positions
are the same as transmission engagements, the shift cable is properly adjusted.
7. Release the parking brake. Start the engine and check for proper transmission shift operation.
CAUTION: When the selector lever is in the "P" Park position, the parking pawl should engage and lock the transmission preventing
the vehicle from moving and possibly causing personal injury.
