Harmonic Balancer - Crankshaft Pulley: Service and Repair
REMOVAL
1. Remove the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the upper radiator shroud.
3. Remove the lower radiator shroud.
4. Remove the engine cooling fan.
5. Remove the drive belt.
6. Remove the accessory drive pulley.
7. Raise the vehicle.
8. Remove the crankshaft balancer (external) bolt.
9. Remove the crankshaft balancer.
10. Remove the engine front cover oil seal.
11. Remove the crankshaft key, if needed.
12. Inspect the crankshaft balancer for grooves or wear. Replace if necessary.
INSTALLATION

J 22102 Front Cover Oil Seal Installer
1. Install the crankshaft key, if necessary.
2. Install the engine front cover seal. Use the front cover oil seal installer. Coat the new seal lips with engine oil.
CAUTION: The inertial weight section of the crankshaft balancer is assembled to the hub with a rubber type material. The correct installation
procedures (with the proper tool) must be followed or movement of the inertial weight section of the hub will destroy the tuning of the crankshaft
balancer.
3. Install the stud to the crankshaft. Thread the stud fully into the tapered hole in the crankshaft.
NOTE: Use a small amount of RTV sealer in order to seal the crankshaft key to the crankshaft.
4. Install the crankshaft balancer (external) over the end of the crankshaft.
