Install the engine oil-cooler hose assembly bracket (Figure 2, Item 1) to the engine oil-cooler outlet hose (Figure 2). Locate the 2 holes
side-by-side on the frame (just forward of the engine mount bracket). Install the bolt (P/N 11513914) and the bracket to the frame (Figure 2, Item
2). The forward hole is threaded, the rearward hole is for a locating tab on the bracket assembly. Torque engine oil-cooler line bracket bolt to the
frame, 14 Nm (10 lb. ft.).

Install the GM Campaign Identification Label.
Campaign ID Label and Claim Information
Each vehicle corrected in accordance with the instructions outlined in this Product Campaign Bulletin will require a "Campaign Identification Label".
Each label provides a space to include the campaign number and the five (5) digit dealer code of the dealer performing the campaign service. This
information may be inserted with a typewriter or a ball point pen.
Each "Campaign Identification Label" is to located on the radiator core support in an area which will be visible when the vehicle is brought in by the
customer for periodic servicing. When installing the Campaign Identification Label, be sure to pull the tab to allow adhesion of the clear protective
covering. Additional Campaign Identification Labels can be obtained from VISPAC Incorporated by calling 1-800-269-5100 (Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.
to 4:30 p.m. EST). Ask for Item Number S-1015 when ordering.
Apply the "Campaign Identification Label" only on a clean, dry surface.
Submit a Product Campaign Claim with the information indicated.
For Campaign Administrative Allowance, add 0.1 hours to the "Labor Hours".
The "Parts Allowance" should be the sum total of the current GMSPO Dealer Net price plus 40% for parts needed to complete the repair.

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
Reason For This Recall:
General Motors has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 1997 G Vans equipped with 6.5L turbo-charged diesel
engines. These vehicles exhibit a condition in which the front left-hand brake pipe may be contacted by the lower engine oil cooler hose. With contact,
the oil cooler hose could wear a hole in the brake pipe during the life of the vehicle causing a loss of front brake performance and increased stopping
distances. Partial loss of braking at a time when minimum stopping distance is required could result in a vehicle crash without prior warning.
What Will Be Done:
To prevent the possibility of this condition occurring, your GM dealer will install an engine oil cooler hose bracket to prevent the lower engine oil cooler
hose from contacting the brake pipe, and inspect the brake pipe for wear, and if required, replace the brake pipe. This service will be performed for you
at no charge.
How Long Will The Repair Take?
The length of time required to perform this service is 25 minutes to install the bracket, and if required, an additional hour and 15 minutes to replace the
brake pipe. Additional time may be required to schedule and process your vehicle. If your dealer has a large number of vehicles awaiting service, this
additional time may be significant. Please ask your dealer if you wish to know how much additional time will be needed.
