Axle Shaft Assembly: Service and Repair
Axle Shaft
REAR AXLE SHAFT (10 1/2" RING GEAR)
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Raise the vehicle on a hoist.
2. The wheel and tire.
3. The axle shaft retainers from the axle shaft.
4. The axle shaft from the rear axle carrier.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. The axle shaft to the rear axle carrier.

Replace the axle shaft gasket before installation.
2. The axle shaft retainers to the axle shaft.

Tighten the axle shaft retaining bolts to 156 Nm (115 ft. lbs.).
3. The wheel and tire.
4. Lower the vehicle.
