Beginning early in the 1983 model year, the 700-R4 transmission turbine shaft, which is pressed into the input clutch housing, was
redesigned to accommodate a 245 mm diameter converter assembly. The first design, which is still used in some applications, is designed
to accommodate a 298 mm diameter converter assembly (Figure 1).
When servicing any THM 700-R4 transmission that necessitates replacing the input clutch housing refer to the following chart for
ordering parts:
