Control Assembly: Description and Operation
With Dual Zone A/C
The operation of the A/C system is controlled by the knobs and the levers on the control head. The A/C system temperature can also be regulated for
driver and front passenger individually, by use of slide levers in the center of the control. The compressor clutch and blower are connected electrically to
the control head by a wiring harness. The blower circuit is open in the off mode and air flow is provided by the four blower speeds available in the
remaining modes. Cooled and dehumidified air is available in the max, normal, bi-level and defrost modes.
The temperature levers control the temperature valves through potentiometers in the control and electric motors attached to the heater module. The
modes of operation are controlled by a rotary switch that sends an appropriate electrical signal to the five solenoid valves that control the flow of vacuum
on the various vacuum valve positioning actuators. Blower speeds (off, low, medium 1, medium 2, and high) are controlled in all modes by a
five-position blower switch in the control head. The blower is turned off in the OFF position. The temperature valve position is independent of mode
selection.
