Suspension Spring ( Coil / Leaf ): Service and Repair

Removal Procedure

Tools Required:

J 34013-B Strut Compressor
J 34013-88 Strut Compressor Adapter 
J 35669 Strut Rod Nut Socket 
J 35668 Strut Alignment Rod 

Important:   Springs are under high tension. Do NOT remove the strut shaft nut without using the proper spring compressing tool.

1. Remove the strut from the vehicle. 
2. Mount the strut in the J 34013-B and the J 34013-88.
3. Use the forcing screw to compress the spring just enough to release tension from the strut mount (4).
4. Use a Torch bit and the J 35669 to remove the strut shaft nut.
5. Relieve all spring tension.

6. Remove the following spring and strut components from the strut assembly (4):

Strut Mount Assembly (6)

Coil Spring Assembly (5)
