BRAKE SQUEAL
Model and Year:
1990 U VAN (APV)
TO:
ALL CHEVROLET DEALERS
Condition:
Some 1990 U-vans may experience a high pitched squeal coming from the front of the vehicle during light to moderate brake
applications. The squeal may be more noticeable during warm weather or periods of heavy brake usage.
Correction:
A new front brake lining material composition is now available that may help reduce this brake squeal. The new material entered
production with the VIN listed below:
LT155494
Rotors should be inspected and refinished only if required.
During routine brake maintenance such as pad replacement, DO NOT refinish disc brake rotors unless:
1.
There is brake pulsation present, and the pulsation is determined to be caused by the rotors, or
2.
The rotors are excessively scored. Light, surface scoring that does not exceed 0.015 inch should not affect brake operation.
